Landscapes & Seascapes
I started out painting mostly outdoors — en plein air, a french term for "in the open air" — in oils and in watercolor. I was inspired by the work of the French Impressionists, and before them, the Barbizon School artists, who also did on-the-spot outdoor painting, also in France. However, it is the colorist abstract qualities of paintings by J. M. W. Turner, and the work of Claude Monet, that inspire me the most.
